Support Needed!  We put in the foot work to make GVDL an established 501c3 tax deductible non-profit because we knew Graham and Greenlee county needed a local animal welfare organization.  100% of the orginal board members have retired or no longer live locally, which means to keep up with progress we desperately need community support with new board members willing to take on the needs in our area.

ABOUT US

Gila Valley Dog Lovers A.K.A Gila Valley Animal Awareness Group Inc. is an Arizona not-for-profit formed in 2013 dedicated to animal welfare for the Gila Valley.  This includes Graham County [Safford, Thatcher, Pima] and Greenlee County [Clifton, Morenci] Arizona.

Our goal is to promote education of proper pet care and wellness and help fight overpopulation in our area.  We were supporting the Graham County spay/neuter hotline run through ADLA (Animal Defense League of Arizona) before they closed the hotline in our area, but our hope is to put together a local program or bring in low cost mobile clinics.

Also, with the help of the Parks and Recreations office, we are organizing and maintaining the building of a dog park, that is located in Graham County.  Lack of exercise is a major factor for bad behaviors such as barking, jumping, and chewing (and more). We feel a dog park would give community members a safe way to socialize and exercise their dogs, and hopefully prevent additional pets from ending up in local shelters.
